B&F: 2423a
ABH: 74.010
Status: Migrant.
Distribution
and Abundance: Rare.
Primary Habitat: General.
Flight Period: All UK records to date have been in September.
Observations: The moth was unidentified when caught, given that it was almost totally devoid of scales and markings! Dissection proved it to be a male. The species was first noted in the UK in Lydd, 1993, with a few sporadic records between then and 2005. No further ecords were noted until 2024. This sighting could be the 10th UK record (to be confirmed), with several other moths noted from Suffolk and Dorset in September 2024 - during a sustained period of migration.
Confusion Species: Other Nycteoline species are very similar - dissection required to be certain of ID.
L.O.N.: N/A.
First Record: 2024, Horsnail.
