Status:  Unknown

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Gardens, Food warehouses, farm buildings

Wingspan:  15-20mm

Flight Period:  June - October

Observations:  The larvae are synanthropic, feeding on a wide variety of stored products, such as Tobacco, Cacao, animal feeds and cereals. The adults are most likely to be captured inside e.g. grain/feed stores, or outdoors where the infested products are spread for bird/animal feed.

Confusion Species:  Adults require dissection to prove ID. Care must be taken to differentiate from other Ephestia species, particularly E. woodiella

L.O.N.:  Kettering, Ashton Wold. Not common, although I once saw a large number in a show case in a shop just outside the county
