Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Wingspan:  9-13mm

Flight Period:  April

Observations: Adults occasionally seen by day flying around Hazel and Hornbeam. Larvae form a blotch mine on the above plants and this is probably the more reliable method of recording this species, as it is the only UK member of the Eriocraniidae to utilise these plants.

Confusion Species: Eriocrania sparrmannella, Eriocrania cicatricella
