Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Grassland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Observations: Although the moth does not normally vary, a male example was taken on 3 July 1941 at Gretton with the wings marked with streaks like the female. On 19 June 1994 whilst watching a barn owl hunting at dusk in a set aside field to the north of Kettering a large number of males were seen leking over the rough grassland. At the time the field seemed full of them.
