  The Forester Adscita statices

B&F: 0163

ABH: 54.002

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare.

Primary Habitat: Grassland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in May and June.

Record: 1989 Charwelton (B. Laney).

Observations: The 1989 record was of a single moth seen in a damp meadow that was ploughed the year after the sighting. The species has dramatically declined in the county. Although always local there were several well known localities that supported colonies of the moth from which it has now disappeared; amongst these Barnock Hills and Holes was probably the most well known. The last record that I hold from this site is 30 May 1960. Other specific old localities for the moth include Castor Hanglands to 1948 and Thorpe Reservoir to 1945.

L.O.N.: 1907. Yardley Chase, Geddington Chase. Local.

First Record: 1842, Clark.
