B&F: 0233

ABH: 12.042

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  General - in vicinity of raptor nests, possibly poultry facilities

Wingspan:  11-16mm

Flight Period:  May - August (pos two generations)

Observations:  Nationally very rare, and recorded on only a few occasions as far as I can tell. Two individuals were recorded to light in Yardley Chase in 2025. The larvae feed on Keratin and are associated with birds nests, notably raptors, but also some evidence poultry houses. Otherwise, its larval habits are poorly recorded, with three specimens having been reared from a Kestrel's nest in Warwickshire.
