Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare - no modern records

Primary Habitat:  Indoors, gardens

Wingspan:  19mm

Flight Period:  May - August

Observations:  Not recorded in VC32 since 1945. The larvae feed on naturally-occurring fibrous material such as hair, fur or bird feathers, and is typically found these days in birds' nests or owl pellets. Historically this species was much more widespread, with the larvae found indoors on clothing.
