Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Indoors, gardens

Wingspan:  9-16mm

Flight Period:  Continuously brooded (indoors)

Observations:  The larvae feed on naturally-occurring fibrous material such as hair, fur or bird feathers, and woollen clothing, upholstery and carpets. Historically this species was much more widespread, with the case-bearing larvae found indoors on clothing and in colonies on carpet.
