Phyllonorycter harrisella

B&F: 0315

ABH: 15.034

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Wingspan:  7-9mm

Flight Period:  Bivoltine: May - June, September - October

Observations: The larvae mine the leaves of Oak. This is quite an unassuming moth in the adult stage and probably easily over-looked (and can have very indistinct markings). I have reared several examples by collecting batches of Oak leaf litter in winter, with adults emerging shortly after bringing the litter indoors.

Confusion Species: P. heegeriella, P. tenerella

L.O.N.:  Abundant in all woods during May and August

First Record:  1905, Wallis
