Phyllonorycter heegeriella

B&F: 0317

ABH: 15.036

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Scarce

Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Wingspan:  7-8mm

Flight Period:  Bivoltine: May, August

Observations: The larvae mine the leaves of Oak. This is quite an unassuming moth in the adult stage and probably easily over-looked. I have reared a few examples by collecting batches of Oak leaf litter in winter, with adults emerging shortly after bringing the litter indoors. Otherwise this species is quite widespread in the UK.

Confusion Species: P. harisella, P. tenerella

First Record:  1993, RIS
