Phyllonorycter tenerella

B&F: 0318

ABH: 15.037

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Wingspan:  6-8mm

Flight Period:  Bivoltine: May, July - August

Observations: The larvae mine the leaves of Hornbeam. This is another unassuming moth in the adult stage and probably easily over-looked. The moth shows a south-easterly UK distribution, but with numerous records in neighbouring Bedfordshire (VC30), there is considerable scope to add to the local knowledge of this moth by leaf-mining searches - currently there are only two records in VC32.

Confusion Species:  P. heegeriella, P. harisella

L.O.N.:  N/A

First Record:  2004, Manning
