Flight Period:  September onwards, reappearing in spring

Observations: The larvae mine the stem, and later the leaf petiole, of the current year's growth of various Salix species (S. cinerea, S. caprea, S. aurita, S. alba, S. fragilis, S. viminalis, S. tremula), often preferring saplings and small trees/sucker growth. These mines can be tricky to find, being long and very pale. The cocoon can be usually found on a upper-side leaf-fold at the base of the leaf, although some have been reported to be on the underside.
