ABH: 15.093

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Local

Primary Habitat:  Wetland, Carr

Wingspan:  7-8mm

Flight Period:  July - September (pos bivoltine, possibly over-wintering as adult)

Observations: The silvery mines may be found on the upper surface of Grey Poplar (Populus canescens), and occasionally White Poplar (Populus alba), apparently favouring saplings or sucker growth. The larva then folds the leaf edge over and pupates in a cocoon in the fold. The species has expanded its range throughout south-east England and has been found in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridge and Hampshire. As well as grey poplar, the species is also found on white poplar (P. alba).
