Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Parkland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from May to July.

Localities: Yardley Chase, Wicksteed’s Park, Denford and Helpston.

Observations: Although rows of mature poplars in parkland seem to be the favoured habitat for the moth, larval mines can also be found low down in the boles of isolated trees in a variety of more open situations.

Attracted to artificial lure HOR - best time 8am to 10am

L.O.N.: Thrapston, Castle Ashby, Yardley Chase. Some poplar trees are riddled by the larvae, but it is not easy to obtain the perfect insect.
