Observations: The species was thought to be extinct in the UK until an accidental discovery was made in Warwickshire in 2021. Since then it has been discovered at several locations within that county, and elsewhere in eastern England. The larvae are associated with Sallows and Poplars (including Aspen), feeding internally within smaller branches and twigs. The adult moth responds to the TAB pheromone lure, with the best time to record being between 3pm and 6pm on sunny days. The first VC32 record was to the TAB lure on 20.vi.2026 and is pictured opposite/below.
