Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Gardens, Woodland, Hedgerows

Wingspan:  16-25mm

Flight Period:  July - August

Observations: Larvae feed gregariously in a silk web on Spindle. Adults are almost impossible to differentiate from congeners, and genitalia dissections are also not diagnostic. Best recorded in the larval stage, although terminal cillia of adult are pure white, thus differing from its congeners.

Confusion Species:  Other Yponomeuta species

L.O.N.:  Common almost everywhere where Spindle grows. Larvae often strip trees.

First Record:  1908, Wallis
