Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Wasteground, Grassland

Wingspan:  14-18mm

Flight Period:  May - June

Observations:  One of the metallic golden-green Coleophs, which has distinctive orange hairs around the eye if viewed closely. It also lacks white on the antennae which helps to separate it from similar species. The case-bearing larvae feed on the seedpods of Smooth Tare

Confusion Species:  Most members of the Coleophoridae family are notoriously difficult to positively identify as adults unless the recorder is particularly skilled. Best identified either from the larval case/foodplant, or by examination of adult genitalia.
