Observations: Possibly under-recorded, although records are scarce in several adjacent counties too. Larvae feed on the seeds of Chenopodium living within a movable case; case length 5-6 mm. The antennal scape on the adult is tufted and the basal segments are scaled. It is similar in appearance to C. salicorniae but can be distinguished from that and all other British Coleophora by the peg-like thickenings on the top of the basal abdominal segments. These can be clearly seen with a good hand lens on a dead or temporarily anaesthetised moth.

Confusion Species:  Adult grade 3; Case grade C2, but care required in worn individuals
