Elachista albifrontella

  B&F: 0601

ABH: 38.030

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Local

Primary Habitat:  Grassland, Woodland rides

Wingspan:  10mm

Flight Period:  June - July

Observations:  Larvae mine the blades of Grasses. Paucity of modern records may be due to under-recording rather than rarity, as I have come across this species on many occasions outside VC32. Care is also required in identification.

Confusion Species:  E. apicipunctella. Other members of the Elachistidae family can be very similar as adults and care is required to correctly identify, especially in worn adults.

L.O.N.:  Near Corby & Kettering, Common. 13-23 June 1909

First Record:  1909, Wallis.
