Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Woodland, Hedgerows, Gardens, occasionally indoors

Wingspan:  7-12mm

Flight Period:  July - August

Observations: Case-bearing larvae feed on a wide range of dried plant matter. Found in profusion in association with thatched roofs, also in birds' nests.

Confusion Species: 

L.O.N.:  Newton, 15.viii.1909, abundant in old thatch
