Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Flight Period:  March - May

Observations: Larvae feed on a wide variety of deciduous trees. Adultsare active in the winter months, with males coming to light. Females have much shorter wings and do not fly, and both sexes can be found on tree trunks shortly after dusk.

Confusion Species: 

L.O.N.:  The males are abundant on tree trunks during April, but females are seldom seen unless reared, as their wings are useless for flight.
