Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Wasteground, Roadside verges, Grassland

Wingspan:  19-23mm

Flight Period:  July to October, and up to May/June after hibernation.

Observations: Larvae feed on various Thistles and Knapweed.

Confusion Species:  Some members of the Depressariinae are difficult to positively identify as adults unless the recorder is particularly skilled. Best identified either from the larval case/foodplant, or by examination of adult genitalia.

L.O.N.:  Common in most places. 24 Aug - 09 May. A constant visitor to treacle in September.
