Observations: A species associated with ancient woodland, larvae
are believed to feed on mosses on tree trunks and fences in deciduous woodland. Adults come to light traps but are reported to also attend sugar patches. The species occurs locally in southern and eastern England from Somerset to Norfolk, with some records in adjacent Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire.
