Distribution/Abundance:  Scarce

Primary Habitat:  Woodland, Wasteground, Roadside verges

Wingspan:  13-18mm

Flight Period:  Bivoltine: July - August, September and again in spring after hibernation

Observations:  Larvae feed within the stems of Rosebay Willowherb. Adults will often require examination of genitalia to be sure of identification

Confusion Species:  M. subbistrigella
