Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Woodland, Wasteground, Roadside verges

Wingspan:  11-12mm

Flight Period: August - October, and again in spring after hibernation

Observations:  Larvae feed on the seedpods of Willowherbs. Adults will often require examination of genitalia to be sure of identification

Confusion Species:  M. sturnipennella
