Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Gardens, Wasteground

Wingspan:  15-25mm

Flight Period:  May - August

Observations:  Larvae feed on Knapweed. Adults are frequent in light traps. Note that there is a rare form ferrugana which is highly ferruginous, losing all the yellow colouration.

Confusion Species: 

L.O.N.:  Wadenhoe, near Oakley. Very local but abundant where found
