Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Woodland edges, Hedgerows

Wingspan:  14-18mm

Flight Period:  June - July

Observations:  Larvae feed on the flowers of a range of herbaceous plants, such as Plantains, Buttercup, Docks and Bird's-foot Trefoil. Identification of adults based on size and wing markings alone is unreliable, thus genitalia examination is required for certainty.

Confusion Species:  Other Cnephasia species
