Distribution/Abundance:  Common

Primary Habitat:  Woodland, Gardens

Wingspan:  15-20mm

Flight Period:  July - September

Observations:  Larvae feed on various Rosaceous trees such as Hawthorn, Rose and Apple, also Sallows. Adults are variable and very difficult to separate from its congener, A. comariana, and thus must be subject to genitalia dissection to be sure of identification.

Confusion Species:  A. comariana
