Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Woodland

Wingspan:  18-25mm

Flight Period:  September onwards, and up to May the following year after hibernation

Observations:  This Nationally Scarce (Na) species has previously only been found in coniferous woodland in parts of northern England and Scotland, with occasional records in central northern English Vice Counties (being noted as present in VC24 - per MBGBI, Vol 5i ). First discovered in Perthshire in 1965. Forewing has several scale-tufts which are generally more pronounced than in related species. Larvae feed on Norway Spruce, living between needles spun together with silk.
