Primary Habitat:  Damp habitats

Wingspan:  12-21mm

Flight Period:  Bivoltine: May - October

Observations:  Larvae feed inside the stems of various Rushes. The Bactra genus are all quite variable as adults and care must be taken in identification, to include dissection of genitalia.

Confusion Species:  Other Bactra species

L.O.N.:  Abundant in marshy places, at Wadenhoe and Geddington Chase
