Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Woodland, Damp locations

Wingspan:  11-14mm

Flight Period:  July - August

Observations:  Larvae feed on a Poplars, in autumn on a leaf, but after hibernating internally on buds. Presence of larvae may be seen from a frass-covered silken tube and an entrance hole.

Confusion Species:  G. aceriana, G. sociana, G. dealbana
