Dichrorampha plumbagana

  B&F: 1276

ABH: 49.322

Status:  Resident

Distribution/Abundance:  Local

Primary Habitat:  Wasteground, Grassland

Wingspan:  12mm

Flight Period:  May - June

Observations:  Larvae feed on the roots of Yarrow. Adults may be seen on sunny afternoons around the foodplant, but will come to light. Older records (prior to 2025) have been called into question due to a possible mix-up between this species and D. obscuratana - which has recently been discovered as an over-looked resident in the UK. Confusion arose due to incorrect dissection images being available for D. plumbagana (which actually depicted D. obscuratana). NB: D. obscuratana feeds on Tansy.

Dissection of adults essential for ID confirmation.

Confusion Species: Esp Dichrorampha obscuratana - see above

L.O.N.:  Geddington Chase

First Record:  1908, Wallis
