Distribution/Abundance:  Rare - no modern records

Primary Habitat:  Acid grassland, Open woodland

Wingspan:  25mm

Flight Period:  July - August

Observations:  Larvae are believed to feed on Wavy Hair-grass. According to Gent & Wilson, "The Flora" states this grass is present at Borough Hill, Bucknell Wood Meadows, Cottesbrook Hall, Cow Pasture Wood, Dryleas Wood, Everdon Stubbs, Great Cattage Wood, Harlestone Firs, High Wood & Meadow and Mantles Heath - so may be worth search both by day and light trapping.

Confusion Species:  Several other of the Crambus genus bear similarities, especially in worn individuals, particularly C. silvella, C. pascuella, C. pratella, C uligonosellus.
