Anerastia lotella

ABH: 62.069

Status:  Unknown

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare - no modern records

Primary Habitat:  Sandy grassland

Wingspan:  19-27mm

Flight Period:  July - August

Observations:  Larvae feed on various sandhill grasses such as Marram. The foodplant is not listed in VC32 according to Gent & Wilson (The Flora), and so the only record is difficult to explain. Wallis acknowledged that this is a species normally only found on sandy coasts, but states that the specimen had been identified by Dr Rebel of Vienna, and thus had no doubt as to the validity of this record.
