Status:  Probable Migrant

Distribution/Abundance:  Rare

Primary Habitat:  Open woodlands, Carr

Wingspan:  20-26mm

Flight Period:  June - August

Observations:  A recent colonist to the UK, being found in several southern and eastern counties, but with migratory habits too. There are however more local records in Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire which may be as a result of migration, but could also indicate range expansion. The larvae feed on White Willow, which is widespread. The first VC32 record came during a period of moth migration, to a light trap in Desborough on 21.vi.2026 and is pictured opposite.

Confusion Species:  Sciota hostilis (not recorded in VC32)
