  Buff Arches Habrosyne pyritoides

B&F: 1653

ABH: 65.009

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Observations:  In literature the moth is frequently quoted as producing an occasional partial second brood in the autumn. I have been unable to find any record of this having occurred in the county. The static Pitsford Water light traps show an annual average of thirty-six moths recorded over the past decade to 2008. In 2009 134 moths were recorded at this site showing that the moth is prone to considerable fluctuations in abundance.

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Common at treacle.

First Record: 1845, Whitwell.
