  Frosted Green Polyploca ridens

B&F: 1660

ABH: 65.015

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in April and May.

Localities: Hazelborough Wood, Salcey Forest, Cottesbrooke Park and Easton Hornstocks.

Observations: Although still more widespread in the county’s southern woodlands there are recent indications that the species may be recovering its former range in the north of the county. In 2004 the moth was recorded in Fermyn Woods, Old Sulehay Forest and Easton Hornstocks, where some forty moths were seen at m.v. light on 23 April 2004. The situation is at present inconclusive in that it still remains unrecorded in some of its other earlier known northern sites.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
