B&F: 1722
ABH: 70.053
Status: Resident.
Distribution
and Abundance: Rather local.
Primary Habitat:
Woodland.
Flight Period:
Double brooded in May and again in August.
Localities: Salcey
Forest, Brampton Wood, Glapthorn Cow Pasture and Easton
Hornstocks.
Observations:
Generally the species is encountered in small numbers in
most woodlands, the most commonly that I have seen it is
in Hazelborough Forest. Eighteen first brood moths were
recorded there in May 2005 and nine second brood moths on
29 August 2009. Both broods of the moth have been
recorded as singletons at Pitsford Water, one in 2006 and
the other in 2009. On 1 April 1994 it was recorded at
Hazelborough Forest, much earlier than its normal flight
time.
L.O.N.: 1907.
Many from Kettering, northwards. Common, but does not
appear in Northampton lists.
First Record:
1842, Clark.
