Status: Resident. 

Distribution and Abundance: Fairly common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Double brooded from May to August.

Observations: Returns from the Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland in the 1990’s are as follows:-

Generally this species is less common than its congener the Red Twin-spot Carpet (X. spadricearia) in the county. In my experience the reddish-brown banded form of the species is uncommon in Northamptonshire.
