  Striped Twin-spot Carpet Ceonotephra salicata

B&F: 1753

ABH: 70.102

Status: Former resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare - no modern records.

Localities: Castor Hanglands pre 1960, Kettering area 1920 to 1940 and Weekley Hall Wood 1938 and 1940.

Observations: The Castor Hanglands locality is taken from, “The Lepidoptera of Castor Hanglands and Ailsworth Heath,” by R. E. M. Pilcher in which he describes the moth as common. Although perhaps an unexpected record for mid Northants, over the years the identification of the Kettering and Weekley Hall Wood moths would doubtless have been confirmed by Eustace Wallis and Arthur Cooper who were very experienced recorders.

L.O.N.: Unrecorded.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
