  The Chevron Eulithis testata

B&F: 1755

ABH: 70.090

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in July and August.

Localities: Deanshanger School grounds, Horn Wood, Harringworth Lake and Old Sulehay Forest.

Observations: The most plentifully that I have seen the moth is in the 1970’s when it was common at actinic light in a damp area within Grafton Park Wood. Generally it seems to have become less common in recent years with very low numbers or singletons being seen in most localities. It was regarded as common at Castor Hanglands in the first half of the last century but was not seen there when the site was well worked in the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 2008 eight moths were seen at light over August and September at Woodnewton. A very high number for a garden light trap.

L.O.N.: 1908. Farming Woods.

First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin.
