Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Double brooded from May to August.

Observations: The moth was exceptionally early on the wing in 1989 when an example was seen on 4 March at Geddington Chase. The form insulata is as common as the typical form in most of the Northamptonshire populations of the moth that I have seen. 

L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Rather common.
