Distribution
and Abundance: Common.
Primary Habitat: Woodland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded from September to November and after hibernation
in the spring.
Observations: Historically this moth was always uncommon in
the county with few records over the years. In 1991 it
was recorded in Northampton and in the Soke of
Peterborough since which time it has increased its range
markedly and has become a regular feature of light trap
returns from some sites. Captures at the Pitsford static
m.v. light traps are as follows: 1998 - 1, 1999 - 1, 2000
- 9, 2001 - 3, 2002 - 7, 2003 - 7. Over-wintered female
moths were seen in the spring of 2002 and 2004.
