  Ruddy Highflyer Hydriomena ruberata

B&F: 1779

ABH: 70.076

Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare.

Primary Habitat: Wetland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in May and June.

Record: 31 May 1998 Werrington (P. Waring).

Observations: Early records of the moth are 09 May 1915, Peterborough (F. Sharman), 18 May 1933 Flag Fen (S. Pooles) and 28 May 1967 Borough Fen
(S. Pooles). Three moths were taken at Borough Fen on this occasion. The Werrington record was of a moth taken in a garden light trap and is presumably a wanderer suggesting that the species still colonises the fenland in the north of the county albeit at low density.

First Record: 1915, Sharman.
