B&F: 1790
ABH: 70.123
Status: Resident.
Distribution
and Abundance: Local.
Primary Habitat: Woodland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded in August and September and after hibernation in
April and May.
Localities: Yardley
Chase, Boughton Park, Spanhoe Wood and Fineshade.
Observations: As the moth
is not greatly attracted to light the species is probably more widely
distributed in the county than the mapping suggests. In the past I
have netted the moth after it has flown past and away from an elevated
m.v. lamp. Although it is seen in the spring most records are of pre
hibernation moths. Double figure congregations of moths have recently
been found overwintering in Kelmarsh Tunnel and in an old mineshaft
at Collyweston Quarry. In both instances these were accompanied by
numerous Herald (S. libatrix) moths.
Confusion Species:
Scarce Tissue
L.O.N.: 1907.
Many localities. Common.
First Record: 1842,
Clark.
