Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from October to December.

Localities: Salcey Forest, Highlands, Pitsford Water and Geddington Chase.

Observations: I have usually seen this species in association with beech in the county and almost always in small numbers. Results from the Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland for eight years in the 1990’s show a total of seven moths recorded with an overall flight period from 5 November to 2 December.

Confusion Species: Winter Moth

L.O.N.: 1907. Geddington Chase. Reared from larva once only.

First Record: 1890, Edwards.
