B&F: 1802
ABH: 70.132
Status: Resident.
Distribution
and Abundance: Local.
Primary Habitat: Woodland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded from May to July.
Localities: Badby
Wood, Everdon Stubbs, Cottesbrooke
Park and Sulby Gardens.
Observations: Apart from a
singleton taken at m.v. light in Old Sulehay Forest on 11 June 2011
by Ron Follows all recent records are from the less well recorded
western part of the county. As the moth is apparently not uncommon
in the adjoining counties of Leicestershire and Warwickshire it seems
likely that further colonies are awaiting discovery in west Northants.
I have failed in all of my attempts to find the caterpillar in the
county by the traditional method of searching old flowers and seed
capsules of red campion. Three moths were taken at m.v. light at Everdon
Stubbs on 14 May 2004.
Confusion Species: Small
Rivulet
L.O.N.: Unrecorded.
First Record: Pre
1961, Castor Hanglands, Pilcher.
