Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Single brooded in May and June.

Observations: The Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland for seven years in the 1990’s returned twenty-six moths, two of which were the melanic form obscurissima. The occurrence of a second brood in this county seems to be rather exceptional.
