Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Fairly common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in May and June.

Observations: The moth was seen in good numbers at rest on the trunks of spruces and firs on the afternoon of 3 June 1987 in Sywell Wood. The afternoon was particularly warm and sunny locally and they were easily disturbed by jarring the boughs of the trees. The Fineshade Rothamsted light trap running in woodland in the 1990’s shows an annual average catch of one moth with an overall flight period from 23 May to 18 June. It is more numerous at the Pitsford Water static m.v. light traps with an annual average of six moths recorded in the decade to 2009.
