Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in June and July.

Observations: The moth has a dusk flight at which time it is easily netted. An extreme variety of the moth with the border clouding very much reduced was taken in 1990 in Horton Wood and a further heavily marked variety was taken on 16 June 1999 at Kingsthorpe. These moths were exhibited and photographed, see Br. J. Ent. Nat. Hist. Vol 7, part 4 and Vol 15 parts 3/4.
